Lots of Muhlenberg students have enjoyed spending fall afternoons apple picking at the nearby Strawberry Acres Orchard. I went for the first time a few weeks ago with my RA staff before it got cold out and it was a lot of fun! I used to go apple picking in the fall every year when I was in grade school, but hadn’t been in a while. Strawberry Acres is about 15-20 min away from campus and is over 100 acres long. It’s a pick your own fruit establishment and after arriving at the parking lot, customers get on an open air refurbished school bus that delivers them into the middle of the orchard for fruit picking. Strawberry Acres features an assortment of seasonal apples, peaches, pears, cherries and pumpkins. Additionally, there are playgrounds, evening hay and pony rides and special events on the weekends. We had a great time going to Strawberry Acres as a staff and after we were done picking we went home and baked apple pies which was a great way to kick off the fall season! Prices vary by weight at Strawberry Acres, so don’t over pick!
